The Valley Symphony Orchestra will be holding auditions on August 23, 2025 for the following positions:

Assistant Principal Cello* | Section Violin | Section Viola | Section Cello | Section String Bass | Co-Principal Flute

* If position is won by a current orchestra member, additional chairs may be awarded to other candidates

Auditions will be held at the South Texas College Cooper Center (3200 Pecan Blvd, McAllen, TX) on Saturday, August 23, 2025.
To register for an audition time, please fill out the form below and mail a $50 deposit check to the address below.

2025/26 SEASON INFORMATION

The VSO performs five masterworks concerts per season plus a series of education concerts.

The concert dates for next season are:

Fri, February 6, 2026 & Sat, February 7, 2026 (Brownsville run-out)

For out of region musicians, the VSO provides a mileage stipend as well as a lodging stipend
or hotel room based on musician preference.

The VSO is a per-service orchestra. Principal per service rate is $97.65 and section per service rate is $73.50,
with an average of 4-6 services per concert cycle.

CHORALE AUDITIONS

The Valley Symphony Orchestra Chorale, led by Dr. Sean Taylor, welcomes new members for concerts in December 2025 and March 2026. Rehearsals take place primarily on Monday evenings beginning September 29. Interested and experienced singers ages 18+ may register for an audition. The audition will consist of singing two prepared excerpts which will be provided one week prior to the audition, and performing select vocal exercises.

AUDITION DAYS:  Monday, August 25 and Tuesday August 26 in the evening.
