AUDITIONS

The Valley Symphony Orchestra will be holding auditions on Saturday, August 22, 2026 for the following positions:

ALL STRING SECTIONS | SECTION OBOE/ENGLISH HORN

Auditions will be held at the South Texas College Cooper Center (3200 Pecan Blvd, McAllen, TX) on Saturday, August 22, 2026. To register for an audition time, please fill out the form below and mail a $50 deposit check to the address below (checks should be made out to the Valley Symphony Orchestra).

A google account is required to complete the form.

In lieu of a check, you can process your deposit via credit or debit card HERE. Deposit will be refunded with ten (10) business days of completed audition.

Audition Deadlines:

August 12 Deadline to submit audition registration form

August 17 Deadline for deposit to be received in VSO office (not postmarked)

August 22: In-person auditions. *Please note that auditions will not be blind.

Virtual auditions may be considered on a case by case basis. If you are unable to attend the live audition and you would like to be considered for one of our positions, please contact the Personnel Manager before August 5th with a description as to why a virtual audition is needed.

2026/27 Season Information

The VSO performs five masterworks concerts per season plus a series of education concerts.

The concert dates for next season are:

Fri, February 5, 2027 & Sat, February 6, 2027 (Brownsville run-out)
Fri, March 12, 2027

CHORALE AUDITIONS

The Valley Symphony Orchestra Chorale, led by Dr. Sean Taylor, welcomes new members for concerts in December 2026

and March 2027.  Rehearsals take place primarily on Monday evenings beginning in late September.

Interested and experienced singers ages 18+ may register for an audition. The audition will consist of singing two prepared excerpts which will be provided one week prior to the audition, and performing select vocal exercises.
